Dagon – Lovecraftian Sea God | Dark Fantasy Creature Concept

Dark fantasy interpretation of Dagon, the ancient sea deity from the mythos of H. P. Lovecraft.

Instead of the commonly depicted fish-man interpretation, this creature design reimagines Dagon as a powerful shark-inspired sea god, drawing from the anatomy and predatory presence of deep-sea sharks. The concept explores a more primal and monstrous vision of the entity, emphasizing aquatic strength, streamlined forms, and the unsettling nature of deep ocean predators.

The creature is presented over a black and white concentric pattern, visually centering the composition on the figure itself. This graphic background reinforces the sense of focus and ritual presence, placing the creature as the central and dominating element of the image.

The goal of this illustration was to create an unsettling presence that feels both divine and alien, emphasizing scale, texture and the oppressive atmosphere of cosmic horror.

decided to use a concentric pattern I had been experimenting with in order to create a more psychedelic and hypnotic visual effect, reinforcing the presence of the creature as the central focus of the composition.
