Creature Concept & Illustration – “K'alunda” the Outer God

My first professional illustration to be published.
Creature Concept & Illustration – “K'alunda”
For the book Los Nuevos Mitos de Cthulhu by Marc Barqué Villa
K'alundah is an Outer God created by Spanish writer Marc Barqué Villade, appearing in his story “The Horror of Bali”, which will be published in the book “The New Cthulhu Mythos”.

This illustration, created by NicoBalker, represents a grotesque and incomprehensible cosmic entity inspired by the aesthetics of Lovecraftian horror.

The creature is depicted as a monstrous head from which chaotic masses of tentacles emerge in total disorder. Some of these appendages end in eyes, others in mouths, spikes, or small luminous forms, creating an unnatural and disturbing anatomy.

At the center of the entity lies a horrifying face, featuring a mouth full of teeth and bulging eyes, intended to convey the alien and terrifying presence typical of the Outer Gods of cosmic horror.

It was a pleasure to collaborate with Marc in bringing this entity to life visually. I hope it manages to transmit the sense of terror and otherworldly presence that defines cosmic horror.
